about transcom
TRANSCOM, International Scientific Conference on Sustainable, Modern, and Safe Transport, aims to establish and expand international contacts and cooperation. The main purpose of the conference is to provide young scientists with an encouraging and stimulating environment in which they present the results of their research to the scientific community. TRANSCOM has been organised regularly every other year since 1995. Between 160 and 400 young researchers and scientists regularly participate in the event. The conference is organised for PhD students and young scientists up to the age of 35 and their tutors. Young workers are expected to present the results they had achieved.
The conference is organised by the University of Žilina. At present, there are about 7,500 students being educated at seven faculties in 169 accredited fields of study in all forms and degrees of university studies at the University of Žilina. In its more than 70 years of successful existence, it has become the alma mater for more than 91,000 graduates, highly skilled professionals specialising mostly in transport and technical fields as well as in management, marketing, and humanities. The quality and readiness of our graduates for the needs of practice are proved by long-term high interest in hiring them by employers that cooperate with the University in the recruitment process. Societal impact of DeepTech: Multistakeholder perspective
Yash Chawla, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Innovation & Marketing,
Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland chawla.yash
This
interactive workshop explores the complex societal implications arising from
DeepTech advancements, specifically within the context of transportation and
communication systems. Designed for young researchers attending TRANSCOM, the
session moves beyond purely technical considerations to examine how innovations
of Industry 5.0, such as artificial intelligence, influence society. Participants
will get a briefing about the prospect of "Societal impact of
DeepTech" and then engage in a dynamic role-playing activity. By stepping
into the shoes of different key stakeholders – including the
researchers/innovators themselves, transport/logistics industry
players, policymakers regulating transport and data, ethicists concerned with
AI bias or access equity, and representatives of the public or affected
communities (e.g., commuters, residents near new infrastructure) – attendees
will debate the potential benefits (e.g., efficiency, safety, sustainability),
risks (e.g., job displacement, security vulnerabilities, digital divide),
ethical considerations, and societal challenges posed by the technology. The
workshop aims to cultivate critical thinking about the broader context and
responsibilities associated with research and development in transportation and
communications, highlighting the crucial need for ongoing dialogue and
collaboration across different sectors to ensure DeepTech develops in a
socially responsible and beneficial manner.

Successful Science Commercialization: Effective Integration of TRL and CRL
Vlastimil Kocian
INOVIA inovia.sk/en
The
workshop Successful Science Commercialization: Effective Integration of TRL
and CRL introduces the concepts of Technology Readiness Level (TRL), which
assesses the maturity of a technology, and Commercial Readiness Level (CRL),
which evaluates its market preparedness. Participants will explore the
interdependence of these frameworks and the importance of advancing them in
parallel to ensure both technical feasibility and commercial viability. The
program includes a guided self-assessment of participants’ own projects to
identify development gaps and define strategic next steps toward successful
commercialization.
